I come to yoga from a love of the outdoors and expressing myself in those environments, surfing, mountain biking, bike packing, hiking and canoeing. Yoga began a way to strengthen my body, recover quicker and have more energy for my next adventure and has grown into a love of philosophy and building community connection. I love the way yoga spills out into all facets of your life, relationships, creativity, parenting and every day interactions all benefit from regular practice.
Yin for me has alway been a favourite style of practice, the space and opportunity to go within, taking time to feel deeply what is actually going within our bodies, releasing deeply held tention and samskaras has huge benefit. I believe Yin offers the opportunity to bring some balance our very Yang lives.
Teaching Yin really is one of my favorite things to do. In my Yin classes, I create a safe and nurturing space, where I offer plenty of options for students so they feel stretches in the correct target area, taking into account our skeletal variations. This allows students to customize the class to their body and their practice. This creates a safer, sustainable and more beneficial practice.
